First Friends very own Sensory Room

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Sensory Room at Holybourne Nursery, opening in September 2026.

This calming and engaging space has been designed to support children's sensory development, emotional wellbeing, and individual learning needs.

The sensory room will be used by children attending both Holybourne Nursery and Wootey Nursery, providing opportunities for exploration, regulation and relaxation within a carefully designed environment.

Supporting children with additional needs

Sensory environments can play a vital role in helping children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) feel comfortable, regulated, and engaged. Our sensory room will include specialist equipment that encourages:

Sensory exploration
Calm & Relaxation
Emotional regulation
Focus and engagement
Inclusive play experiences

From January 2027...

We are pleased to extend the use of our sensory room to local SEN community groups within the Alton area.

Designated booking slots will be available for organisations supporting children with additional needs from January 2027.
