About our nursery

Welcome to our very popular and highly-rated nursery school in Chineham, Basingstoke. Our nursery is in the Scout's building on Hanmore Road.

Our location holds great convenience for families, as we are near local schools. Many parents and children find it convenient to walk to our nursery while dropping off or picking up older siblings.

For those who prefer to drive, we offer a spacious car park for hassle-free drop-offs and pick-ups.

At our nursery school, we believe in fostering structure and free play to facilitate the learning and development of our children. Through guided activities and independent exploration, we encourage each child to become confident in preparing for school life and beyond.

Each member of our dedicated team has extensive expertise in early childhood education and has been an integral part of our team for many years. They bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience to create a warm and engaging environment for your little ones.

OPENING HOURS & BOOKING PATTERNS

We offer flexible booking options designed to fit around busy family life. These include:

Breakfast club: 8.30am-9am
9am-12noon (Morning Session)
12noon -3pm (Afternoon Session)
9am – 3pm (All day Session)

We’re open term-time (38 weeks of the year) and close for Bank Holidays and our annual summer staff conference.

To help your child settle in and feel secure, we ask for a minimum of 6 hours per week—this can be two half days or one full day.

Before starting, every child is offered at least three settling-in sessions, starting around a month before their start date, to help them feel comfortable and ready for their new environment. This is when you’ll meet your child’s key worker—the person who will get to know your child best and support them.

What will my child learn?

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in England sets the basic statutory framework for early childhood education (from birth to 5 years old). This alone is not enough to fully prepare children for school or life beyond.

That’s why First Friends goes beyond the basic EYFS requirements. We provide a Premium Package, which is why we are becoming the nursery of choice for many families in the local area.
